J.G. Anschütz “Keenfire” (c.1936 to c.1938)

A good year ago I wrote a short article about the J.G. Anschütz Dolla MKII. I mentioned in that article that the Dolla MKII had also been imported to the United States and sold as the “Keenfire”. As luck would have it, a fellow collector from the United States contacted me with a boxed Keenfire that he wished to sell. I’m pleased to say that it has now found a new home in Jimmie Dee’s collection.

J.G. Anschütz JGA Air Pistol (early 1950’s to early 1960’s)

Following the end of World War II, the Anschütz family fled Russian occupied East Germany and re-established their business in Ulm, West Germany. In 1951, the restrictions on airgun manufacture in Germany was lifted. It seems that the Anschütz family wasted no time and started production of the JGA air pistol. Continue reading “J.G. This is the Dolla MKII manufactured by J.G. Anschütz between c.1929 and 1939 in Zella St Blasii-Mehlis, Thüringen, Germany – probably the gun capital of Germany at the time. Yes, that’s right, this pistol was made by the famous Anschütz family that are renowned throughout the world for their Olympic quality biathlon and target rifles. Continue reading “J.G.
